Area Guide

Fujigaoka is where the Higashiyama subway and the Linimo line begin — an easy base for both central Nagoya and the sights out in the suburbs. Here is how to enjoy the area on foot. (Times and fares are approximate; opening hours can change, so please check with each venue for the latest.)

Eating

There are plenty of places to eat around Fujigaoka Station. You can try Nagoya's famous 'morning' culture — order a drink at a coffee shop in the morning and toast or eggs often come with it — and there are chain family restaurants with photo menus, multilingual menus and touch-panel ordering, so it's easy to order even on your first visit.

Convenience & shopping

Several convenience stores near the station sell drinks, snacks and daily necessities around the clock. For a bigger shop, the MaxValu Fujigaoka supermarket near the station is handy. The Seven Bank ATMs inside 7-Eleven stores usually accept overseas-issued cards, which is convenient for cash while you travel.

Sightseeing

The Linimo reaches Ghibli Park (Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park) in about 13 minutes (¥400 one way), and the Toyota Automobile Museum is on the same line. On the Higashiyama subway you can reach Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens (koalas and elephants), Nagoya Castle with its golden shachihoko, the lively Sakae district and the Osu shopping street for street food. Note: Ghibli Park is by advance, date-and-time reservation only (no same-day tickets), so we recommend booking early once your dates are set.
